This is the fourth year that Neo-Soul has sent a team to the NPS and in
this short time we have established ourselves as a national power. In
our inaugural NPS in 2006 we earned our way to the Final Stage and
finished 2nd in the Nation; in 2007 we made the semifinal round and
finished 20th place; and last year we made the semifinal round and
finished 14th in the Nation (while being ranked as high as #5 going into
the semis). This year’s team is proud to follow in the footsteps of these
great teams and is poised to blaze its own poetic path. To help us reach
our goal of being the best, we need your help with our travel costs. We
estimate our travel (five team members) and lodging (a minimum of two
rooms for 7 nights) expenses for the 2009 NPS to be $2,930 for the
week long competition. Each team member will be responsible for
covering their cost for meals and NPS individual and team registrations.
We are accepting donations at the following sponsorship levels:
Slam Champ – $500 or more
We will recognize your contribution on Neo-Soul’s home webpage –
southflavas.com. You will receive an original 150 - 200 word poem from
a member of the 2009 Neo-Soul Slam Team; a signed copy of your
favorite poem by your favorite member of the 2009 Neo-Soul Slam
Team; a signed picture of the Neo-Soul Slam Team; and a big hug from
the slam coach B Fran.
Slam Finalist – $250 - $499
We will recognize your contribution on Neo-Soul’s home webpage –
southflavas.com. You will receive a signed copy of your favorite poem
by your favorite member of the 2009 Neo-Soul Slam Team; a signed
picture of the Neo-Soul Slam Team; and a big hug from the slam coach B
Fran.
Slam Poet – $50 - $249
We will recognize your contribution on Neo-Soul’s home webpage –
southflavas.com. You will receive a signed picture of the Neo-Soul Slam
Team and yes, a big ole’ hug from the slam coach B Fran.
Open Mic – $25 - $49
We will recognize your contribution on Neo-Soul’s home webpage –
southflavas.com and you will receive your complimentary hug from the
slam coach B Fran.
